Greenville has more shootable spots per square mile than just about anywhere we've worked. The trick is matching the spot to what you're actually shooting.
A family with a three-year-old doesn't need to drive 45 minutes for a mountain overlook. An engagement couple in their first apartment downtown doesn't need a botanical garden.
So here's the working list, sorted by what each one does best.

Downtown · Iconic
Best for. Engagement, couples, downtown family sessions
Notes. Liberty Bridge, the river, the gardens. Free, public, busy. Best on weekday mornings or right before sunset.

Travelers Rest side · Variety
Best for. Family, engagement, portraits
Notes. Rose Garden, Bell Tower, Japanese Garden, open lawns. Four different backdrops in one parking lot.

North of downtown · Outdoors
Best for. Family, engagement, anniversary
Notes. Lake, piers, footbridges, wooded trails. Five dollar park entry. Best in late afternoon.

Edge of downtown · Family friendly
Best for. Family with young kids, mobility-friendly
Notes. Easy parking. Sidewalks. Big green spaces. Quarry Garden is inside it. Good for families with strollers or grandparents.

Inside Cleveland Park · Garden
Best for. Family, portrait, engagement
Notes. Small waterfall, stone footbridge, shaded most of the day. The light is forgiving any time.

South of downtown · Open field
Best for. Family golden hour, engagement, portrait
Notes. Free. Big grassy field at the back of the property is one of the prettiest golden hour spots in Greenville County.

West downtown · Modern
Best for. Family, brand, engagement
Notes. Newer park. Open lawn, modern bridge, mature trees in places. Less busy than Falls Park.

Downtown · Urban
Best for. Brand, editorial portrait, engagement
Notes. Brick alleys, signage, restaurant patios. Best mid-morning or sunset side-light.

Northeast of downtown · Linear park
Best for. Family, engagement, anniversary
Notes. The Swamp Rabbit gives you mile after mile of riverside trail. Stop wherever the light is good. Travelers Rest end has its own character.

Clemson · Day trip from Greenville
Best for. Family, engagement, anniversary
Notes. Free. 40 minutes from Greenville. Worth the drive for big sessions or anniversaries.

Blue Ridge foothills · Drive
Best for. Engagement, anniversary, dramatic family
Notes. 45 minutes from Greenville. Big sky, big overlook. For couples who want the mountain photo.

Wherever home is · Documentary
Best for. In-home family session, lifestyle, newborn
Notes. The most underrated location. Your house at 4pm with the windows open beats half the parks in the city for sentimental family photos.
The Furman trick. If you want variety in one shoot and can't drive between locations, Furman is the move. Walk 200 feet between backdrops. We can shoot four totally different looks in 45 minutes.
The Falls Park crowd trick. If you love Falls Park but hate crowds, book a session for 7:30am on a weekday. The light is great, the bridge is empty, and the photos look like the park belongs to you.
The in-home trick. Newborn or young family sessions in your house with a few simple lighting moves beat most outdoor shoots, especially in winter or when weather is iffy.
You don't need the most beautiful spot. You need the spot that feels like you, has decent light, and doesn't add an hour of logistics on top of an already stressful day with a kid.
Pick something easy. The photos will still be good.
