Greer is the under-the-radar wedding city in the Upstate. Downtown Greer has been investing in restored historic buildings for years, and the result is a small but solid set of walkable venues with character that doesn't try too hard. Outside of town you've got farm and barn venues with real outdoor acreage. It's a strong fit for couples splitting guests between Greenville and Spartanburg because Greer sits geographically between them. Greer weddings tend to be 80-180 guests. mid-sized celebrations where the room feels full but not chaotic.

Season & light

Greer's mix of downtown-historic and outdoor-farm means season choice depends on which venue type you've picked. Historic indoor venues hold up year-round; the light inside is consistent and we plan around it. Farm-style venues outside town follow the same April-June and September-November windows as the rest of the Upstate. Pollen season (late March through early May) is real in this area. tell your florist and ask the venue for their plan if they have an outdoor ceremony lawn.

Greer's downtown is walkable enough that we can plan a short street-walk portrait between the ceremony and reception without burning timeline. For farm venues, most getting-ready happens on-site or in a hotel along Wade Hampton Boulevard. Greer has fewer dedicated wedding hotels than Greenville, so guests often stay in Greenville or near GSP and shuttle. Confirm with your venue if they have a shuttle vendor relationship.

Historic Greer Depot

Historic Greer Depot is a restored 1913 railway depot in downtown Greer that opened as an event venue in August 2021. It runs about 3,600 square feet of main indoor space with modern restrooms and a catering kitchen, plus a 900-square-foot outdoor rose garden for ceremonies or cocktail hour. It's one of the newer additions to the Greer Station district and slots neatly into walkable downtown weddings.

The Davenport is a historic event venue in downtown Greer, originally built around 1898 and restored to a 2,500-square-foot space featuring exposed brick walls, hardwood flooring, and tall windows. Its size makes it ideal for intimate and mid-size weddings, and the downtown Greer location puts it minutes from both Greenville and Spartanburg.

If your guests are split between Greenville and Spartanburg, Greer is geographically neutral and 20 minutes from each. Downtown Greer's restored historic venues also tend to be more available on shorter timelines than equivalent downtown Greenville spaces.

Where do Greer wedding guests usually stay?

Either in Greenville hotels (15-20 minute drive) or at hotels near GSP airport (which sit between Greer and Greenville). Few couples book hotel blocks inside Greer itself because the inventory is limited.

Are Greer venues good for smaller weddings?

Yes. Several of the downtown Greer historic venues fit 60-120 guests comfortably, which is a hard size to book at the larger downtown Greenville venues without the space feeling empty.
